Direkttest Sverige AB was founded in Umeå in 2020 in response to the need for fast and secure COVID tests in Sweden.
Direkttest Sverige AB was founded in Umeå in 2020 in response to the need for fast and secure COVID tests in Sweden.
The digital platform that enables secure sharing of information between laboratories, samplers and patient records is based on a pioneering home testing service for chlamydia that Roger Karlsson and Daniel Novak developed in 2005, and which has been used by regions in Sweden ever since. In 2007, the service received the award for best public internet service in the EU in the EPractice.eu competition.
The technical platform from Karlsson & Novak is well suited as a basis for other types of tests, and when in spring 2020 there was a need to quickly test many people for COVID-19, it was developed in collaboration with the Västra Götaland Region to be used for that purpose.
During 2020-2022, Direkttest delivered the service to the Västra Götaland Region, Stockholm Region and Västerbotten Region. In total, over 4.5 million test results from PCR tests were sent through Direkttest. Since 2021, Direkttest Sverige AB and Karlsson & Novak Medical AB are part of the Vimila AB group.
Direkttest Sverige AB's Medical Advisory Board consists of licensed physicians with extensive experience in both clinical work and research.
